Course Overview

The Provide First Aid course prepares participants to respond effectively to emergencies, covering essential first aid techniques and principles.

This comprehensive course covers essential topics such as:

• Identify and evaluate an emergency situation
• Ensure the safety of oneself, bystanders, and the casualty
• Request assistance from emergency services
• Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) following guidelines from the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC)
• Administer first aid based on established principles
• Handle the casualty with respect
• Obtain consent from the casualty if possible
• Utilize available resources and equipment to enhance the casualty’s comfort
• Operate first aid equipment according to the instructions provided by manufacturers
• Monitor the casualty’s condition and respond appropriately based on first aid principles

Course Requirements

Participants who are interested to join must possess the following:

• 18 years old and above
• Computer literacy skills
• Have a basic understanding of spoken and written English

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a statement of attainment (certificate) for the following units:

• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
• HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
• HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Course Duration

Participants will engage in a blended learning approach consisting of online self-paced theory training and assessment, complemented by 4 hours of practical in-class training.

Method of Learning

The course combines online theory training and assessment, allowing participants to learn at their own pace and convenience. Practical training and assessment sessions are conducted in-class, providing hands-on experience and skill application in a simulated childcare environment.
